Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the IT Administrator, the IT Specialist will:

  1. Provide daily helpdesk support to organizational staff in a hybrid Microsoft Active Directory environment, including on-premises infrastructure and Microsoft 365 / Azure cloud services. Support staff both in-office and remotely via VPN. Travel to associated regional offices for maintenance as needed. Provide backup for IT Administrator if unavailable.
  2. Demonstrate general familiarity with Active Directory, including DNS, DHCP, and user administration. Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel. Experience with additional communication tools like Zoom and Sorenson nTouch is beneficial.
  3. Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair desktop, laptop, and server computers, as well as office equipment including printers, scanners, monitors, projectors, and other peripherals. Assist in maintenance of networking hardware such as switches, routers, firewalls, and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) when needed.
  4. Work closely with the Director of Marketing on tasks such as (but not limited to) monitoring and maintaining the organization’s website performance, uptime, and server alerts utilizing Linux and Plesk; troubleshoot and escalate as needed
  5. Maintain hosting, domains, SSL certificates, WordPress, plugins, themes, and security updates
  6. Manage integrations (CRM, online forms, email marketing)
  7. Liaise with external tech support
  8. Collaborate with the IT Administrator on joint projects and participate in regular strategy meetings focused on performance, productivity, and security. Support daily operations of GLAD’s computer network and assist with network and data security tasks including backups, group policies, firewalls, antivirus software, and email protection.
  9. Maintain inventory tagging for all GLAD-Los Angeles hardware equipment. Estimate and report costs for technology upgrades or new purchases.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Applicant Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in information technology, web development, computer science, or a related field is required.
  2. Fluency in American Sign Language is required.
  3. Minimum of two years of experience working with Microsoft Networks, Windows Servers, VPNs, and troubleshooting network systems.
  4. Microsoft certifications are desirable. Required knowledge and experience include network security (firewalls, servers, workstations), Windows server and workstation operating systems; Active Directory; DNS; DHCP; Microsoft 365 \Azure; Microsoft Office Suite; Outlook and email systems; server and workstation repair and component replacement.
  5. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Must be a self-starter.
  6. Must maintain the highest level of confidentiality and demonstrate professional conduct. Punctuality and reliability are essential.
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Must maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues, directors, vendors, and the CEO.
  8. Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and current auto insurance. Willingness to travel to GLAD outreach offices for system maintenance is required.

The Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness is a private non-profit organization that was founded in 1969 and now has 13 locations serving 10 counties in Southern California.

Salary Range – $33.17 - $34.14 per hour ($69,000 - $71,000 yearly)
